"Buyer Brokers" are individuals who put together the seller and the buyer. Buying
real estate outside of the United States is often completely different
from what most US citizens are used to. There are different laws,
custons and typically less buyer safeguards. Exclusive buyer
agency is almost non -existent. True buyer agency is rare.
Therefore, the best place to start is to assume the people you
will be working with are "buyer brokers", or individuals who can put
together a buyer and a seller. While many buyer brokers offer
many other useful services, start with this assumption and move outward
from that, and you are less likely to be surprised when things do not
go as you may have experienced in a US transaction.
Feel free to review here a sample buyer broker employment agreement. You may wish to look this over as
a way to begin thinking about your international buyer broker
relationship and the kinds of questions you might want to ask him or her.
